I have read these books five times. Every time I am sucked in like it was the first. There aren't a lot of books out there with that kind of power. These books however, are some of the few. Nora Roberts weaves a tale with something for everyone. Fantasy, romance, wars, historical, modern, paranormal. If these books were a Hollywood production they would be a box office hit that could put even the most loved movies to shame. She weaves a tales of death and destruction, of blood and Gore, of good and evil. She will make you laugh and cry and mourn and love. Every time I finish reading them I am sad to part with them for a while.I love Nora Roberts books. I always have. These are by far my absolute favorite and would still be if I read them a thousand times. I've been on a fantasy kick lately and was intrigued by the storyline of witches, wizards, and vamps (oh my), but i didn't take into account that Nora Roberts is primarily a romance novelist. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - I don't mean any disrespect to anyone that loves and reads this author and genre. Its simply not what Im into. So keep that in mind as I critique.What worked well* the idea for the plot, I love all that magical witchery-woo brought into a modern setting* The settings are nicely describedWhat didn't work* lots of arguing about what needs to get done rather than doing it* more telling what's happening rather than showing* way too gushy "oh my god, he's my soul mate"Could have been better if more attention payed to the "why now" it was confusing to me the whole jumping in time thing. I didn't feel like there was context on why the villain was the villain.I was so intrigued by the story line and the author seems to be really popular so I bought this whole 3 book series, maybe the next ones will answer some of my issues.
